Volleyball drops two at Gettysburg

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Ursinus dropped a pair of matches at the Gettysburg Tri-Match on Saturday.

In the first match, the Bears lost to Gettysburg by a 3-0 score with set scores being 25-17, 25-18 and 26-24. The Bears lost its second match of the day to Hood by a 3-2 score, with set scores being 25-17, 25-22, 26-28, 18-25, 15-11.

In the Gettysburg match, sophomore outside hitter Karla Thiele (Lakeland, Fla./George Jenkins Senior) led the way with a match-high 12 kills.

Junior setter Gina Powers (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) made 20 assists.

Defensively, junior libero Leah Masiello (New Castle, Del./St. Elizabeth's) had 22 digs, with freshman outside hitter Sam Murphy (Holden, Mass./Wachusett Regional) assisting on four blocks.

Against Hood, Ursinus had several standout performances. Thiele had 22 kills, while senoir Anahi McIntyre had 13. Powers finished with 48 assists, with Masiello getting 34 digs and four service acies.
