Fighting for Four

ROSEMONT, Pa. – It was smooth sailing on the Main Line for the Ursinus College women's volleyball team Saturday afternoon, as the Bears ran their win streak to four matches with wins over Wesley and Rosemont.

In the first match, Ursinus dispatched Wesley in three sets by scores of 25-22, 25-19 and 25-22.

Sophomore outside hitter Karla Thiele (Lakeland, Fla./George Jenkins Senior) led the way with ten kills, with junior setter Gina Powers (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) hitting for seven. Powers also added in 17 assists and three services aces. Freshman setter Emily van Mulbregt (Wayland, Mass./Wayland) had four service aces in the first match, part of nine on the day for the Bears.

Powers and junior libero Leah Masiello (New Castle, Del./St. Elizabeth's) each had 14 digs, with Thiele netting 13.

Powers had a strong match against Rosemont, as the Bears won by scores of 25-5, 25-15 and 25-16. She netted 27 assists but had seven service aces.

Thiele had a strong hitting percentage as she netted 16 kills on 23 attacks with just one error. Sophomore Kathryn Yoo (Hokendaugua, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) had four service aces in the

Rosemont match, part of 12 in the win. Masiello had 13 digs.

Ursinus hosts Delaware Valley on Tuesday.
