Bears sweep Arcadia

GLENSIDE, Pa. - Ursinus closed out the 2009 portion of its schedule on Saturday by sweeping Arcadia in a non-conference meet.

The women won 152-77, while the men scored a 167-68 win over the Knights.

The meet started with Ursinus taking 1-2 in the 200 medley relay. The team of senior Emily Herman (Glenside, Pa./Cheltenham Township), junior Kacie McCormick (Springfield, Pa./Springfield), senior Lyndsay MacFeeters (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield) and senior Casey Gilmore (Glenside, Pa./Abington) won the event with a time of 2:06.87, while junior Jessica Saloky (Feasterville, Pa./Neshaminy), freshman Kelsey Yoo (Whitehall, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic), senior Elizabeth Gombosi (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro) and senior Melissa Krupa (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) took second with a time of 2:09.97.

In the 1000-free, freshman Kaylani Wertman (Allentown, Pa./William Allen) won the event with a time of 11:51.34, while Gombosi won the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:07.41. Krupa took second in the event with a time of 1:12.93.

Junior Bridget Winn (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) took the top spot in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:11.14, while freshman Lianna Foster-Bey (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax) was second in the event with a time of 1:17.97.

In the 200-fly, Herman won the event with a time of 2:24.31.

In the 50 free, sophomore Danielle Yentz (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) won the event at 27.42, while Saloky was second with a time of 28.16.

In the 100 free, MacFeeters was first with a time of 1:00.38, with Yoo finishing in second place with a mark of 1:00.99.

Yentz won the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:19.65, while Herman was in second place with a time of 2:29.62.

Krupa won the 200 breaststroke at 3:07.79, with Wertman in second place with a mark of 3:13.33.

Saloky took the top spot in the 500 free at 5:47.33, while Gilmore was in second place at 5:52.09.

From that point, the women's team then went into exhibition.
