COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – After a scintillating collegiate debut, Ursinus College freshman Jacob Menzer has been selected as the Centennial Conference Male Swimmer of the Week by Collegeswimming.com.

Menzer turned in a spectacular performance in his first meet, winning two individual events and contributing to a relay victory as the Bears opened the 2016-17 campaign with a 117-88 rout at Dickinson. Menzer prevailed in the 200 free by nearly three seconds, clocking a 1:45.08, and narrowly overtook the Red Devils' Alex Bennett to claim the 100 free in a time of 48.79.

Menzer also teamed with sophomore Travis Venables, senior Dylan Cooper, and fellow freshman Casey Lear to touch first in the 400 free relay (3:18.80). Menzer was also named Ursinus' Male Student-Athlete of the Week.

The men's swimming team returns to the pool at the NYU Invitatational on Friday and Saturday before its home opener against CC rival McDaniel on Saturday, November 12.
