Gymnastics fourth at Towson Invitational

TOWSON, Md. – In a meet with all Division I schools, the Ursinus College gymnastics team finished with a score of 183.775 at the Shelli Calloway Towson Invitational on Saturday at SECU Arena. The meet featured host Towson, Temple and Cornell University. Temple won the invitational with a score of 192.325.


Ursinus finished with a high in the vault at 46.675, followed by the beam (45.875), the bars (45.750) and the floor exercise (45.475).

Junior Kristin Aichele, who was named as an ECAC gymnast of the week on Wednesday, finished with a team-high 9.575 in the vault followed by senior Monica Durham with a score of 9.550. Kristina Steffenhagen had a 9.375, with Megan Bolash getting a 9.100 and Vanessa Scalora a 9.075.

On the beam, Aichele had a 9.600 which was good for seventh overall. Steffenhagen had an outstanding 9.575, followed by Scalora with a 9.300. Bolash scored a 8.975 with Durham getting a 8.425. 

On the bars, Scalora had a team-best 9.375 followed by Lauren Chavis with a 9.225. Durham netted a 9.150 with Riley Acton getting a 9.100. Tianna Lettieri had a 8.900. 

On the floor, Steffenhagen netted a 9.525 followed by Acton with a 9.425. Durham had a 8.950, followed by Lettieri with a 8.900 with Bolash getting a 8.675. 

In the All-Around, Durham had a 36.075 and Scalora had a 35.600.
