Gymnastics finishes sixth at NCGA; Warren named All-American

WHITEWATER, Wis. – The Ursinus College women's gymnastics team finished up their two-day trip at the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association Championships hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on Saturday afternoon. 

On Friday night, the Bears finished sixth in the team competition with a total score of 181.325.

On Saturday, three members of the squad competed in the individual championships by virtue of their score on Friday night. 

In Saturday's competition, senior Johanna Warren (Shakoppe, Minn./Hopkins) finished in sixth place in the uneven bars with a score of 9.550. With that score, she earned All-American honors in that event.

On the floor, senior Stephanie Schmidt (Bloomingdale, N.J./Butler) posted a score of 9.325 to finish in 13th place overall. 

On the beam, sophomore Kristin Aichele (Upper Black Eddy, Pa./Palisades) went for a 8.500, which was good enough for 14th place.

During Friday night's competition, Ursinus posted a team-high 46.950 score on the vault, a 45.600 on the floor, a 44.625 on the bars and a 44.150 beam. 

Junior Monica Durham (Baltimore, Md./Catonsville) posted a team-best 9.550 on the vault, followed by freshman Kristina Steffenhagen (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown Area) going at 9.525. Aichele had a 9.500, with Schmidt getting a 9.225 and sophomore Riley Acton (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxborough) at 9.150. Freshman Allie Patton (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) had a 9.100.

On the floor, Schmidt had a 9.600, with Steffenhagen and sophomore Adelaide Hurlbert (Inman, S.C./Spartansburg) both getting a 9.125. Durham and sophomore Tianna Lettieri (Old Forge, Pa./Old Forge) had a 8.875, with sophomore Karina Marks (Lexington, Md./Great Mills) getting a 8.650. 

On the bars, Warren had a 9.575 with Marks taking an 8.950. Senior Erica Schnebel (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) had an 8.925, followed by Durham (8.600), Acton (8.575) and sophomore Jamie Hammell (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) (8.300).

On the beam, Aichele had a 9.500, Megan Bolash posted a 9.200 followed by Steffenhagen (8.850), Durham (8.350) and Marks (8.250). Schmidt also had a 7.800. 

In the all-around competition, Durham finished with a 35.375.

Schnebel, Warren and Schmidt were also honored by the NCGA as All-Americans in Academics.
