COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College gymnastics team hosted Eastern Michigan on Wednesday. The Bears continued their pace of high scoring, finishing second with a total score of 185.100, while the Eagles took first with a score of 192.800.
On the vault, the Bears were lead by Monica Durham (Baltimore, MD/Catonsville High School) who scored a 9.55, freshman Riley Acton (Acton, MA/Acton-Boxborough Regional High) who netted a 9.50 and junior Stephanie Schmidt (Bloomingdale, NJ/Butler) who scored a 9.45.
On the bars, the team was again led by Durham, who scored a 9.375. Junior Erica Schnebel (Pittsburgh, PA/North Hills) finished with a 9.225 and Acton netted a 9.125.
On the beam, senior Katherine Gelinne (Westfield, NJ/Mount Saint Mary's) had a team-high 9.55, followed by freshman Kristin Aichele (Upper Black Eddy, PA/Palisades High School) with a 9.50 and sophomore Megan Bolash (Warrington, PA/Central Bucks High School South) with a 9.30.
In the floor exercise, the Bears were paced by junior Stephanie Schmidt (Bloomingdale, NJ/Butler) who scored a 9.60. She was followed by senior Danielle Michielli (Claymont, DE/Concord) with a 9.40 and freshman Adelaide Hurlbert (Inman, SC/Spartanburg Day School) who posted a 9.325.
Monica Durham placed second in the all-around results with a total score of 36.40 and junior Johanna Warren (Shakopee, MN/Hopkins) took third with a total score of 35.275.
The Bears are back in action next Friday at the ECAC's in Ithaca, New York.
