Women's XC Takes on Paul Short Run

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Rachel Conhoff set the pace and the rest of the top-five put forth a balanced effort to drive the Ursinus College women's cross country team to a 12th-place finish at the historic Paul Short Run on Friday.

The 47th edition of the storied race, one of the most competitive on the East Coast, saw the regionally ranked Bears land in the top half of a 32-team field of the College White 6K, which featured more than 250 runners on the campus of Lehigh University.

As she has all fall, Conhoff led the Ursinus brigade with a ninth-place overall finish. Her time of 22:46.4 was good for an average mile time of just over six minutes and marked a new personal best on a 6K course by close to 30 seconds.

Lauren Ferguson's time of 24:15.2 was a PR by almost 45 seconds and enough to land her in 55th place overall. Ryan Wauthier was close behind in 59th place at 24:20.2, and Holly Chambers lowered her own collegiate best by 36 seconds with a 24:27.1 to finish 69th.

Brooke Adams was the Bears' fifth finisher in her 6-kilometer debut, crossing the finish line in 25:07.0.

Amanda Choi (26:44.0) also notched a new PR and was followed by Samantha Grubb (27:02.4), Meghan Carroll (27:54.9), and Katy Jenkins (28:28.4).

The Bears will compete at the Inter-Regional Border Battle, hosted by Rowan University, on October 16 in their final tune-up for the Centennial Conference championship meet.
