Women's XC competes at CC Championship

The Ursinus College Women's Cross Country team competed in the Centennial Conference Championship this past Saturday at Stevenson University. John Hopkins served as the host for the championship. The Bears finished 9th overall with 252 points. John Hopkins University won the overall team title with 19 points, sweeping the top 4 overall spots. Hopkins Tess Meehan took the overall team title in 21:33. The Bears were led by freshmen as four first year runners made up the top five Ursinus finishers.

From the gun, freshmen Riley Engel and Brittany Gasser led the way for Ursinus. They went through the mile in 6:02 and continued to work off each other through the entire race. Both finished up the 6k course in under 24 minutes for the first time in their careers. Freshman Gabby Manto was the third overall finisher. She finished in 25:55, just missing her personal best set two weeks ago. Junior captain Alicia Baker followed closely behind in 26:20. Rounding out the top five was freshman Morgan Cope with a time of 27:04.

The Bears are back in action on Friday, Nov 6 at the UC Fall Twilight. The home meet will feature three races, open 3k/5k, elite 2 mile, and the college/alumni 2 mile.
