Volleyball Downed 3-1 Versus Dickinson, Eastern Mennonite

CARLISLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College volleyball team was defeated 3-1 at Dickinson on Saturday afternoon. The Bears dropped a second match against Eastern Mennonite 3-1.

Ursinus fell behind Dickinson 2-0 after two sets of play, but rallied to take the third in their first matchup of the day. Junior Allison Raff provided a spark for the Bears, delivering three aces on four serves to give Ursinus a 9-2 advantage. Raff later added a kill to finish off the Red Devils 25-23.

Raff finsished with a 25 digs, 14 kills, three aces and a block to lead the team. Her 18 points were second on the Bears behind freshman Kelly Piotrowicz's 18.5. Piotrowicz also contributed 14 kills and three aces, adding 16 digs.

The Bears defeated Eastern Mennonite 25-17 in the first set of match two. A kill by Raff put Ursinus on the board and added another tie the contest 12-12. After trading points, Ursinus pulled away to a 23-15 lead and Piotrowicz brought home the win with another ace.

Raff paced the Bears against Eastern Mennonite, recording a team leading 13 points on 11 kills to go with eight digs and an ace. Piotrowicz and sophomore Taylor McCartney each registered seven points in the match. The pair combined for 15 digs and 10 kills. McCartney blasted three aces.

The Bears are now 8-13, 1-8 on the season. Ursinus will finish the regular season at Muhlenberg on Wednesday, October 26th. The match will begin at 7:00 P.M.
