LANCASTER, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's volleyball team fell 3-0 at Franklin & Marshall on Saturday. The Diplomats took the first three sets 25-22, 25-13, 25-21 to win the match.

The Bears trailed by one in the first set before a five-point run by the Diplomats made it a 16-10 contest. Ursinus fought to keep it close, later pulling within a score again before a service error set up F&M with the set point.

Franklin & Marshall was able to score in bunches and create more separation in the second set. The Bears defense limited the Diplomats to short bursts, but were unable to gain momentum on the offensive. The offense stormed back in set three, building a four-point 12-8 lead early. Unfortunately, the Diplomats would score eight of the next nine points to regain the lead and seal the victory.

After earning Hero of the Week honors Freshman Kelly Piotrowicz continued her strong play at F&M, leading the Bears with a team-high eight points on six assists and two service aces. Piotrowicz added six kills and nine digs.

Junior Allison Raff chipped in seven points, eight digs and a team leading seven kills. Sydney Gonzalez recorded double-digit digs for the seventh straight match and ninth this season. Gonzalez led the Bears with 14 digs versus the Diplomats.

Ursinus is just 2-41 all-time versus F&M, has now won 32 consecutive matches against the Bears going back to 1988.

The Bears return home on Wednesday, September 28th to host Bryn Mawr in Centennial Conference play. Match time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
