COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – In a Saturday tri-match, Ursinus hosted by Franklin & Marshall and Arcadia in volleyball action.
The first match of the day saw the Bears drop a 3-0 decision to the Diplomats, while in the nightcap, Ursinus (5-10, 0-2) dropped a five-set marathon to Arcadia (4-8) 3-2.
In the match against F&M, senior outside hitter Karla Thiele (Lakeland, Fla./George Jenkins) had nine kills, with sophomore outside hitter Allison Raff (Landenberg, Pa./Avon Grove), with freshman outside hitter Grace LaDelfa (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) getting three.
Junior setter Emily van Mulbregt (Wayland, Mass./Wayland) had 13 assists, with Raff having 14 digs.
In the match against Arcadia, Ursinus led 2-1 before Arcadia won the last two sets 25-20 and 15-9.
For the Bears, Thiele had 21 kills while Raff had 12. Van Mulbregt had 28 assists to 10 for freshman setter Cori Cichowicz (King of Prussia, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame De Namur). Freshman setter Moriah Suzuki (Phoenixville, Pa./West-Mont Christian Academy) had six service aces with van Mulbregt having four. The team had 19 service aces in the five-set match.
Defensively, Raff had 22 digs to 15 for Thiele.
Ursinus goes to Bryn Mawr on Wednesday.
