COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus rallied from a 2-0 deficit in the third set, on its way to a come-from-behind 3-2 win over Washington College in a tightly contested volleyball match Wednesday night.

After losing the first two sets, 25-22 and 25-17, Ursinus won the next three 25-17, 25-15 and 16-14.

For the Bears, 13 was a lucky number as three players sophomore outside hitter Anahi McIntyre (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West), senior Elizabeth Roth (York, Pa./Dallastown Area) and senior right side Kim Goldberg (Sarasota, Fla./Out of Door Academy) each posted 13 kills.

The Bears racked up 92 digs, with freshman libero Leah Masiello (New Castle, Del./St. Elizabeth's) going for 37. Junior middle blocker Kristin Hanratty (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson) had 18.

In the third set, Ursinus dropped the first two points, but rallied back to take a 7-3 lead as freshman setter Gina Powers (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) served four straight points.  Washington would come to within two at 9-7, before Roth served five straight points, highlighted by a service acea and kills from Goldberg and Hanratty.

The lead got as high as eight at 21-13 in the third set. In the fourth,  Ursinus ran away with it early, going up 17-3.

The fifth set saw Ursinus fall behind 5-1 early, before coming back to tie it at 8-all.

Facing match point at 14-13, Ursinus got a kill from Roth to tie the score, then Goldberg added a kill from Powers to make the score 15-14. Roth would score the final point on an assist from Goldberg. It was fitting that the two seniors on the squad would score the final point of the match, as both were honored before the start of the match on senior night.

Ursinus (11-11,  2-6 Centennial) travels to Dickinson Saturday.
