NEW ORLEANS – The Ursinus College women's track and field team earned an outdoor program record eight All-Metro Region selections among five different student-athletes for the 2022 outdoor season, announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Tuesday.
Among the eight selections for the Bears were: first-year Ryann Wauthier and junior Lauren Ferguson in the 10,000-meters, junior Isabelle Deal in the javelin, Holly Chambers in the 1,500-meters, and junior Rachel Conhoff in the 800, 1,500, 5,000, and steeplechase
To be named all-region, an athlete must finish either in the top five of an individual event or be part of a top-three relay team.
Conhoff racked up four all-region honors for the Bears in the 800, 1500, and 5000 meters along with the steeplechase. She held the fastest time in the 1500 in the metro region following her gold medal and school record winning time of 4:35.43 set at the Centennial Championships. Conhoff battled her way to a silver medal in the steeplechase at the Centennial meet and posted the third-fastest time in the metro region at 11:21.78. She held the fourth-fastest time of 2:15.89 in the 800 meters in mid-April at Widener and in the 5,000-meters at 17:55.14 during the Ursinus Invitational.
Deal earned her second-straight All-Region honor in the javelin following another strong season. She recorded a school record throw of 44.15 meters at Princeton in mid-April, which held to be the longest throw in the metro region in 2022. The throw held itself in the top-three longest throws in Division III during the regular season and powered Deal to earn her second appearance in the NCAA Championships. She overcame a late season injury to win bronze at the Centennial Championships and finish sixth at the NCAA Championships to earn All-American honors for the second time in her career.
Wauthier had a breakout performance at the Centennial Championships by earning the bronze medal in the 10,000-meters. She did not record a time in the event during her collegiate debut season until the race in the Centennial meet and her mark of 38:44.70 finished as the third fastest time in the metro region.
Ferguson earned her first-ever All-Region accolade by following Wauthier in the 10,000-meters with the fourth-fastest time for the event at 39:04.08, which was also set at the Centennial Championship meet.
Chambers locked herself into earning her first collegiate all-region honor with her career-best time of 4:45.63 that was set at the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet. It was the fifth-fastest time in the metro region and three seconds faster than her time she set at Centennial Championships.
