PHILADELPHIA – A duo of Ursinus Women's Track & Field athletes were named to the PhillySIDA Women's Track & Field Academic All-Area Team on Friday morning. Juniors Rachel Conhoff and Isabelle Deal earned spots on the roster of 10.
The Academic All-Area Team, voted on by the sports information offices of 30 institutions in the Philadelphia metro area, requires a student-athlete to be in their second year at the school and hold a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or better.
Deal had another outstanding season in the throwing events for the Bears as she took home her second-straight All-American honor in the javelin at the 2022 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. She became the first two-time All-American in program history and set the school record in the javelin back in April. Deal overcame a late-season injury to earn the bronze medal at the Centennial Conference championships, her second-straight medal in the event. She earned Academic All-Centennial status for the second time with her performance at the championship meet.
Conhoff won the gold medal at the Centennial Championships in the 1500-meters to garner first-team All-Centennial honors and shattered a seven-year-old school record in the process. Conhoff earned second team All-Centennial in the 3000-meter steeplechase after earning the silver medal. She also won gold in the 1500 at the AARTFC Championships in mid-May. Conhoff competed in the mile at the 2022 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships and finished ninth overall.
Conhoff and Deal are the first Bears Women's Track & Field athletes since Erin Farrell in 2016 to be named to team.
