Women's Track & Field Rises to Sixth in Latest Regional Rankings

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Ursinus College women's outdoor track and field team jumped two spots in the latest United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Metro Regional Rankings as they found themselves ranked No. 6 in the latest rankings released on Tuesday afternoon.

 

 

The Bears earned 480.85 rating points in the poll to rank sixth in the Metro region which matches their highest ranking to date this outdoor season. Ursinus ranks first among Centennial teams in the regional rankings with Swarthmore placing just behind in seventh with 476.64 rating points.

 

 

The Bears finished fourth in the overall standings at the 2022 Centennial Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a grand total of 96 points. Ursinus won six medals during the three-day event behind two golds, two silvers, and two bronze.

 

 

First-year Mikki Pomatto took home gold in the discus on her throw of 37.75 meters in rainy conditions. She became the first Bear to win the women's discus crown since April Brown did so back in 1995 and still holds the third-best discus throw for the Centennial Conference this season at 39.74 meters.

 

 

Junior Jacqueline Allen finished runner-up in the shot put to earn the silver medal over the weekend at 11.87 meters. She earned top-five finishes in all three throwing events she competed in over the weekend. Allen has the third-best throw in the Centennial for the shot put (12.18 meters), eighth in the discus throw (33.08 meters), 10th in the hammer (38.35 meters).

 

 

Junior Isabelle Deal battled through injury to claim the bronze medal in the javelin on a throw of 38.26 meters over the weekend. Deal still holds the best mark in the Centennial this season for the javelin at 44.15 meters which is also good for third highest in all of Division III. Deal also still holds the second-best shot put mark in the Centennial at 12.23 meters.

 

 

First-year Katya Galkowski now holds the seventh-best javelin throw in the Centennial after posting a mark of 35.58 meters to finish fifth overall. Galkowski also owns the seventh-best Centennial mark in the discus at 33.26 meters.

 

 

Junior Rachel Conhoff earned the gold in the 1,500-meters and broke a seven-year-old school record in the process with her time of 4:35.43 on Sunday afternoon. Conhoff's 1,500 time is good for second-fastest in the Centennial and she posted a career-best time of 11:21.78 in the steeplechase to finish runner-up. First-year Ryann Wauthier impressed on Friday afternoon with her bronze medal finish in the 10,000-meters on a time of 38:44.70. Wauthier's time is now good for fifth-fastest in the Centennial Conference.

 

 

In sprints, first-year Tehya Harvey maintains a top-10 time in the 100-meter dash in seventh with her time of 12.78.  

 

 

 The 4x400 relay team of first-year Meghan Carroll, senior Molly McCarthy, junior Samantha Levai, and junior Holly Chambers rank seventh in the Centennial with their season-best time of 4:11.16.

 

 

The Bears return to action on Monday, May 16th as they will compete in the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet at Widener University that will start at 4 p.m.
