Conhoff Takes Gold in 1500, Women's T&F Finishes Fourth at Centennial Championships

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Women's Track & Field team wrapped up the 2022 Centennial Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships by earning a trio of medals on Sunday afternoon at Patterson Field.

 

 

The Bears finished fourth in the overall standings with a grand total of 96 points. Johns Hopkins won its 12th-straight team title after earning 253 points. Dickinson was the runner-up with 139 points, Swarthmore placed third with 101 points, followed by the Bears, and Franklin & Marshall rounded out the top-five with 90 points.

 

 

Junior Rachel Conhoff pulled away on the last lap of the 1500-meters to win her first gold medal of her career at the Centennial Outdoor Championships. She broke a seven-year-old school record in the process with her time of 4:35.43. Conhoff tallied three medals on the weekend with her gold in the 1500, silver in the steeplechase, and bronze in the 4x800 relay. Her classmate, Holly Chambers, earned an eighth-place finish in the 1500 with a personal-best time of 4:48.46.

 

 

Sophomore Jacqueline Allen led the throws on Sunday by earning her second-straight silver medal in the shot put on her throw of 11.87 meters. She earned top-five finishes in all three throwing events she competed in over the weekend.

 

 

Junior Isabelle Deal battled through injury to claim the bronze medal in the javelin on a throw of 38.26 meters. It was her second career medal at Centennial Championships in the javelin after taking gold last season. First-year Katya Galkowski recorded a fifth-place finish in the javelin on a personal-best throw of 35.58 meters and was followed by junior Hannah Bierling in sixth (34.58 meters), and junior Alexa McCall in seventh (32.99 meters).

 

 

First-year Ryann Wauthier earned a seventh-place finish in the 5,000-meters after recording a time of 18:39.37, while seniors Rosie Cuomo and Tori Bearden registered finishes of seventh and eighth place with times of 17.19 and 17.48, respectively.

 

In the relays, the 4x100 squad of junior Samantha Levai, senior Molly McCarthy, Bearden, and senior Gabrielle Pitt placed sixth with a season-best time of 52.56. The 4x400 team of first-year Meghan Carroll, McCarthy, Levai, and Chambers finished seventh with their season-best time of 4:11.16.

 

 

The Bears will now shift to focus to sending potential invites to the NCAA Championship meet in Geneva, Ohio on Memorial Day Weekend with a pair of last chance meets next week. Ursinus returns to action on Monday, May 16th at the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet at 4 p.m. that will be held at Widener University.
