Wauthier Earns Bronze for Women's T&F on Day One of Centennial Championships

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Women's Track & Field team battled rainy weather conditions on the first day of Centennial Outdoor Championships on Friday at Patterson Field to put forth a solid performance.

 

 

After four events on Friday, the Bears earned 16 points and currently sit second in the team standings behind Johns Hopkins in first with 43 points.

 

 

First-year Ryann Wauthier highlighted the Bears on day one after earning a bronze medal in the 10,000-meters with her time of 38:44.70. Wauthier did not record a time in the event during her collegiate debut season until Friday and impressed the field with her finish. Senior Lauren Ferguson finished fifth in the race with her time of 39:04.08 and sophomore Samantha Grubb placed seventh on her time of 39:53.29.

 

 

Sophomore Jacqueline Allen led Ursinus in the hammer throw with her fifth-place finish behind a new personal best mark of 125-8 ft. Senior Zenya Yanoff finished ninth with her throw of 116-0 ft. and first-year Mikki Pomatto (101-0 ft.) along with junior Hannah Bierling (100-1 ft.) finished 14th and 15th, respectively.

 

 

Junior Julia Pierson recorded a 14th-place finish in the pole vault with her mark of 8-4 ft. and senior Chelsea Stitt placed 15th behind a vault of 7-9 ft.

 

 

Ursinus returns to action tomorrow, May 7th for the second day of Centennial Championships starting at 11 a.m.
