Women's Track & Field Competes at Penn Relays, TCNJ

EWING, N.J. – The Ursinus Women's Track & Field team wrapped up its regular season by competing in a pair of events over the weekend in their final tune-up before Centennial Conference Championships next week. The Bears had a relay team compete in the Penn Relays at Franklin Field while most of the squad headed to TCNJ for the Lions Invitational.

 

 

On Friday, the Bears had the 4x100 relay team of first-year Tehya Harvey, junior Holly Chambers, first-year Meghan Carroll, and junior Rachel Conhoff place 10th overall behind a time of 4:16.61 at the first Penn Relays held since April 2019.

 

 

 

At TCNJ, first-year Katya Galkowski recorded a sixth-place finish in the javelin on her career-best throw of 115-1 ft. which is currently good for eighth-best in the Centennial. Junior Hannah Bierling placed eighth in the javelin with a throw of 109-3 ft. Sophomore Jacqueline Allen paced the Bears in the shot put with a ninth-place finish behind a throw of 39-3 ft. Allen also led Ursinus in the hammer throw with a career-best mark of 117-1 ft.

 

 

Senior Rosie Cuomo set a season-best time in the 100-meter hurdles at 16.92 and placed 15th overall and classmate Tori Bearden earned a time of 17.46 to place 20th overall. First-year Sierra Hufnagle placed 12th in the 400-meter hurdles with her time of 1:16.86.

 

 

Senior Amanda Choi placed fifth in the 5,000 meters with her career-best time of 20:49.40 and was followed by sophomore Maggie Stalter in seventh on her time of 22:01.50

 

 

 

Sophomore Esther Akande finished 12th in the triple jump behind her season-best mark of 32-2.75 ft.

 

 

Ursinus returns to action on Friday, May 6th as they will begin competition in the 2022 Centennial Conference Championships at Patterson Field.
