Women's Track & Field Shows Well on Second Day of Widener Invitational

CHESTER, Pa. – The Ursinus Women's Track & Field team wrapped up competing in the two-day Widener Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

 

 

In the throws, junior Isabelle Deal placed second in the javelin with a mark of 139.1 ft. and led four Bears that finished in the top 10. Junior Hannah Bierling placed third in the javelin with a career-best throw of 115-9 while junior Alexa McCall finished sixth on her mark of 112-0 ft. First-year Katya Galkowski registered a throw of 107-4 ft. to round out the Bears that finished in the top 10 in seventh. Deal also led the Bears in the hammer throw after setting a personal best mark of 121-5 ft and finished 14th overall.

 

 

Juniors Rachel Conhoff and Jenna Lozzi recorded top-fives and personal-bests in the 3,000 steeplechase. Conhoff placed second on a time of 11:26.22 while Lozzi earned a 12:43.41 to finish fifth. Senior Chelsea Stitt placed 13th overall in the pole vault after recording a career-best mark of 8-2.5 ft.

 

 

First-year Tehya Harvey led the Bears in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.10 and placed 18th overall. Senior Tori Bearden earned an eighth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles after recording a time of 17.36, while irst-year Sierra Hufnagle recorded a new personal-best in the 400-meter hurdles on her time of 1:15.90

 

 

Junior Holly Chambers posted a personal-best time of 2:21.96 to lead the Bears in the 800 meters. First-years Meghan Carroll and Brooke Adams recorded career-bests as well with times of 2:21.96 and 2:24.50, respectively.

 

 

Ursinus returns to action with a split-squad this week. The team will compete at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia starting on Thursday, April 28th and at the TCNJ Lions Invitational that starts on Friday, April 29th.
