COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Junior Isabelle Deal set a new school record in the javelin as the Ursinus Women's Track & Field team hosted their home Spring Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Patterson Field.

Prior to the meet, the Bears honored their senior class between the two teams as a part of senior day ceremonies.

Deal broke a school record that stood since 1983 when Sandy Wirth tossed the javelin 137-9.5 ft. Her meet-winning mark of 143 ft. was a staggering clear of 32 feet over second place finisher and teammate Katya Galkowski who recorded a throw of 111-8 ft. Deal's throw is currently the second-best throw in NCAA Division III this season to Chrissly Strickland's 143-2 ft. throw for George Fox. Deal's mark in the javelin was one of three first-place finishes for the Bears in throwing events on Saturday as sophomore Jacqueline Allen won the shot put with a career-best throw of 39-10.50 ft. Deal placed second in the shot put on a throw of 38-4.75 ft. and junior Hannah Bierling came in fourth on a mark of 35-3 ft.

First-year Mikki Pomatto continued her strong start to her collegiate career by taking first in the discus with a throw of 125 ft which was 13 ft. clear of second place. Allen recorded a third-place finish in the discus on a throw of 107-6 ft. while first-year Erin Hendershot placed fifth with a throw of 105-4 ft. Senior Zenya Yanoff led the Bears in the hammer throw by placing fourth with a throw of 119-7 ft. and was followed by Deal in sixth place on a career-best mark of 118-6 ft.

On the track, juniors Rachel Conhoff and Holly Chambers led a 1-2 Ursinus finish in the 5000 meters as Conhoff recorded a career-best time of 17:55.14 to win the race. Chambers crossed the line with a career-best time of her own at 18:27.32 and first-year Ryann Wauthier placed fourth with a time of 18:46.96. First-year Tehya Harvey recorded a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter dash on a time of 12.78 and seniors Tori Bearden along with Rosie Cuomo earned top-five finishes in the 100-meter hurdles. Bearden placed third with a time of 17.09 while Cuomo came in fourth with a mark of 17.42.
