ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Ursinus Women's Track & Field team opened the outdoor portion of their 2022 season with some standout performances and tallied a fourth-place finish as a team at the Muhlenberg Invitational on Saturday. The Bears earned a score of 87 to earn the mark at the top of the standings among nine schools.
A pair of school records fell in the throwing events at the invitational as senior Zenya Yanoff demolished the Bears program best in the hammer throw with a mark of 130-11 ft. Yanoff finished second in the event and topped the old mark of 113-11 ft. set by Mike Bordonaro in 2018. First-year Mikki Pomatto reset the Ursinus outdoor school record in the discus with a throw of 129-11 ft., besting the old mark of 125 ft. set by Amanda Birnbrauer in 2014.
Junior Isabelle Deal picked up right where she left off after last season's All-American year in the javelin as she recorded a personal-best throw of 136-11 to finish first overall. First-year Katya Galkowski and junior Hannah Bierling each earned top-fives in the javelin with throws of 108-7 ft. and 108-4 ft., respectively. Sophomore Jacqueline Allen registered a first-place finish for Ursinus in the shot put after tallying a mark of 38-0.25 ft. and Deal placed third with a throw of 37-1.75 ft.
Junior Holly Chambers notched a fourth-place finish in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:53.99 and junior Rachel Conhoff earned the win in the 3000 steeplechase by registering a time of 11:28.54. Sophomore Brooke Adams finished fourth in the steeplechase with a time of 12:36.74. First-year TehyaHarvey placed sixth in the 100 meter dash and posted a time of 13:50.
Ursinus to action on Saturday April, 9th as they will host the Ursinus Outdoor Invitational.
