Women's Track & Field Takes Third at Collegeville Classic

COLLEGEVILLE – The Ursinus Women's Track & Field team posted a third-place overall finish in the Collegeville Classic at the Floy Lewis Bakes Center on Saturday.

 

The Bears finished third in a field of 12 teams after posting a team score of 94 on the day. Dickinson won the event with a team score of 106, edging out Elizabethtown at 103 points.

 

The Bears saw a pair of first place finishes in the event as junior Rachel Conhoff won the mile with a personal best time of 5:15.26. Conhoff also played a key role in the 4x800 relay team that finished first with a time of 10:24.99. Freshman Megan Carroll, junior Holly Chambers, and sophomore Brooke Adams joined Conhoff on the winning relay team.

 

The well-balanced meet for the Bears started in the throwing events as sophomore Jacqueline Allen posted a pair of top-five finishes. Allen finished second in the shot put with a mark of 37-2.50 ft. before registering a tally of 41-0.50 ft. in the weight throw to finish fourth. Senior Zenya Yanoff continued her strong start to the season by finishing just ahead of Allen in third in the weight throw with a mark of 41-4.50 ft. Junior Hannah Bierling set a new personal best in the weight throw with a toss of 37-5.25 ft. and finished ninth while earning a fifth place in the shot put behind a throw of 35-3.00 ft.

 

Sophomore Esther Akande recorded a second-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 33-0.25 ft. Senior Kate Hunt earned a top-three finish in the 60-meter dash after posting a time of 8.40 to finish third. Junior Julia Pierson finished third in the pole vault with a personal best mark of 8-0.50 ft. and was followed by teammate Chelsea Stitt in fourth. Stitt also posted a personal best at a 8-0.50 ft.

 

The Bears will return to action on Friday, January 28th as they will compete in the Little Dip Invitational hosted by Franklin & Marshall at 4 p.m.
