Women's Track & Field Opens Indoor Season at Bow Tie Invitational

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Women's Track & Field team opened its 2021-22 Indoor season by hosting the Bow Tie Invitational at the Floy Lewis Bakes Center on Friday night.

 

Senior Zenya Yanoff earned a first-place finish in the weight throw with a mark of 39-10.75 ft. as she led a 1-2-3 finish for the Bears in the event. Junior Isabelle Deal placed second behind Yanoff with a throw of 38-5 and was followed by sophomore Jacqueline Allen in with a mark of 38-1.50. Deal led the Bears in the shot put with a third-place finish behind a throw of 36-9.

 

Junior Rachel Conhoff won the 5000 meter dash with a time of 18:44.47 and led a 1-2 Ursinus finish as classmate Holly Chambers followed with a time of 19:16.94. Freshman Meghan Carroll earned a third-place finish in her collegiate debut in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:34.49.

 

Freshman Esther Akande placed second in the triple jump with a mark of 32-2.75 and was followed by junior Tori Bearden in third after posting a jump of 30-4.75. Senior Chelsea Stitt led the Bears in the pole vault with a fourth-place finish behind a mark of 7-6.50. Freshman Katy Jenkins also recorded a top-five finish by pacing Ursinus in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:04.49.

 

The Bears will return to action next month on Saturday, January 22nd as they will host the Collegeville Classic at the Floy Lewis Bakes Center.
