CHESTER, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's track and field team improved their standing in the Centennial Conference in a number of events on the second and final day of the Danny Curran Invitational.

Sophomore Gianna Speranza, sophomore Rachel Coleman, sophomore Michela Coleman, and freshman Kate Hunt laid down an early marker in the 4x100-meter relay, posting a time of 50.63 seconds in an event only one other conference team has run this season.

Senior Brittany Gasser was slightly off her college best in the 800 at 2:18.08, but it was still enough to take over the top time in the conference. She also joined sophomore Neve Durrwachter, freshman Jamie Mayer, and Michela Coleman to finish the 4x400-meter relay in 4:07.95, the third-best time in the CC.

Freshman Maddie McHugh notched a big PR with a 5:37.50 in the 1500 meters, where sophomore Meredith Steele (5:38.36), freshman Amanda Choi (5:57.03), and sophomore Bianca Joseph (6:02.70) also secured new collegiate bests.

Senior Morgan Cope tied for second in the pole vault by clearing 3.15 meters.

Junior Sophia Simoes now stands in fourth place in the conference in the hammer throw, where her mark of 34.46 meters was a personal high.

Senior Mikaela Bordonaro moved into fifth on the CC performance list in the javelin (32.90 meters), where Durrwachter grabbed a new college best at 29.85 meters. She was also fairly close to her career high in the shot put with a throw of 34.26 meters.

Speranza recorded a new personal best with a leap of 4.72 meters in the long jump.

Freshman Rosie Cuomo was just off her PR in the 100-meter hurdles (16.65).
