Snyder Second in Heptathlon, Farrell Wins 200 Prelims at CC Champs

CARLISLE, Pa. – The Ursinus women's track and field team sits in eighth place after the second day of the Centennial Conference outdoor championship at Dickinson College.

Senior Krista Snyder held her second-place position in the heptathlon, establishing a new program record at the outdoor championship with 4121 points, trailing only 2014 champion Paige Marsh of Johns Hopkins (4328). Snyder was second in the long jump (15-9.75) before dominating the javelin with a heave of 104-7.0, more than 17 feet better than Marsh's runner-up effort. The senior finished the heptathlon before eclipsing her previous 800-meter run record, set during last week's Penn Relays, by over three seconds with a clocking of 2:26.37, good for second in the event behind only Gettysburg's Danielle DeMichael (2:26.21).

Several Bears qualified for final heats in their respective events. Junior Erin Farrell was the top finisher in the 200-meter dash, her time of 25.70 nearly a quarter of a second ahead of the second-place performer and just .03 seconds off the winning pace she set at last year's outdoor meet. Farrell will also compete in tomorrow's 100-meter dash finals after establishing a new personal best with a time of 12.70, good for fifth overall.

Senior Kristen Prijs placed third in the 400 (1:00.52) and seventh in the 200 (26.56).

Senior Kimberly Snow matched her season best with a 4-8.75 in the high jump, good for 10th overall.

The 4x800-meter relay team of sophomore Jenna Kelly, sophomore Meggie Leitz, freshman Riley Engel, and sophomore Lily Talerman finished seventh (10:01.39).

Senior Elizabeth Cooley established a season best with a toss of 91-0.00 in the discus, which placed her 13th overall. Junior Erin Specht finished 15th (84-6.00).
