Track and Field Hosts Spring Invitational

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College track and field teams hosted their spring invitational on Saturday, competing against a field of about 300 student-athletes.

On the women's side, senior Krista Snyder won the triple jump with a leap of 34-5.00, a season best that elevated her to third on the Centennial Conference performance list. Freshman Caroline Buckley was runner-up with her own personal record of 33-4.00.

Senior Kristen Prijs finished runner-up in the 100-meter dash with a 13.39. Sophomore Meggie Leitz turned in an impressive effort in the 400, a personal best 1:02.45 that ties her for 13th in the Centennial Conference.

Sophomore Jenna Kelly crossed the line in second in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking a season best by nearly a full second (1:09.47) and jumping to ninth in the conference performance list. Classmate Katherine Damato also produced a personal best, her mark of 1:12.33 good for 14th in the CC.

Snyder finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.04 that ranks her within the top 10 in the conference. She led a group of three Bears in the event, with freshman Elizabeth Iobst narrowly edging out her previous best to post a 17.74; Buckley turned in an 18.11.

Senior Sasha Cusick was fifth in the 200 (28.39), and freshman Riley Engel matched that placement in the 800 (2:32.66), where sophomore Lily Talerman was seventh (2:36.46).

The 4x100-meter relay team of junior Erin Farrell, Prijs, Cusick, and Kelly claimed first place with a 50.91, less than two-tenths of a second out of second on the conference charts.

Buckley registered a personal best in the long jump (14-9.75).

Senior Kimberly Snow uncorked a toss of 94-6.00, good a season best and 10th in the conference.

For the men, sophomore Jequan Mitchell shaved four-hundredths of a second off his top season mark in the 100-meter dash, clocking an 11.29 (3rd in CC) in the prelims before placing third with an 11.49 in the final heat. Senior Skyler McCormick was right behind with an 11.53 in the finals, enough for 10th in the CC.

Sophomore Adam Myers shattered his previous best in the shot put, dominating the event with a mark of 44-10.00, elevating from ninth to fourth in the CC. Myers also claimed victory in the discus (121-10.50).

Junior Thomas Donnelly won the javelin with a throw of 164-10.50, adding almost two feet to his previous best.

Senior Andrew Mackin prevailed in the 1500-meter run one day after registering a personal record by more than a second in the event at Princeton's Larry Ellis Invitational; his mark of 1:52.90 in the elite heat ranks him 19th in Division III. Mackin was in ninth place with 200 meters to go before passing six other athletes in the final stretch to take third overall in his heat.

Senior Erich Keyser trimmed .12 seconds off his season best in the 110-meter hurdles, registering a 16.36 in the finals, which keeps him in fifth in the conference. Keyser's 56.78 in the 400-meter hurdles was one-hundredth of a second off his season best; sophomore Mitchell Kelly outpaced his previous record by nearly a second and a half (58.77).

Mitchell leaped 20-6.00 in the long jump, a season best that moved him up five places to sixth in the conference.
