Track and Field Teams Compete at Bison Outdoor Classic

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Select members of the Ursinus College track and field teams tuned up for next weekend's home invitational by joining the ranks of a top-notch field at Bucknell's Bison Outdoor Classic, testing their mettle against representatives of all three NCAA divisions and a number of unattached competitors. The Bears held their own with a variety of new standards for the outdoor season.

On the men's side, senior Andrew Mackin won his heat in the 800, ultimately placing 32nd in a field of 133 entrants. Mackin's time of 1:54.14 currently leads the Centennial Conference

Sophomore Jequan Mitchell clocked a 22.94 in the 200 and an 11.33 in the 100, which places him fourth on the CC performance list.

Senior Skyler McCormick ran an outdoor season best in the 400, finishing second in his heat with a mark of 51.43, which moved him inside the top 10 in the conference. Classmate Erich Keyser fell just shy of a season best with a 57.06 in the 400-meter hurdles; his previous best of 56.76 ranks fourth in the CC.

For the women, sophomore Jenna Kelly dropped more than four seconds off her previous standard in the 800, clocking a 2:23.05 to climb from 25th to 13th on the conference charts.

Senior Krista Snyder stood out in both the triple jump and the long jump; her leap of 34-1.25 was just a quarter-inch off her personal best, which stands fifth in the CC. She logged a 16-4.25 in the long jump, good for seventh in her flight.

Senior Kristen Prijs uncorked a season best in the 400, where her time of 59.71 lands her fourth in the conference. Prijs registered a 26.60 in the 200. Junior Erin Farrell was right off her season high water mark in both the 100 (13.06) and 200 (26.45). Farrell currently ranks fourth and Prijs sixth in the 200.
