Snyder Claims Silver in Pentathlon

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Senior Krista Snyder set a new school record in the indoor pentathlon, earning a silver medal to lead the Ursinus College women's track and field team on Day One of the Centennial Conference championships. The Bears scored nine team points to place fifth.

Snyder's total of 2829 points easily surpassed her own mark of 2631 set last year. The senior placed third in the 60-meter hurdles (10.37) and sixth in the high jump (4-7.00) before hitting her stride. Snyder finished second in the long jump (16-4.25) and the shot put (29-2.75) before closing with a third-place effort in the 800-meter run (2:32.58). She outperformed expectations after coming in seeded third in the event.

Freshman Caroline Buckley placed eighth in the triple jump with a personal best of 33-1.25. Freshman Amira Gomez (12th – 31-4.00), senior Kimberly Snow (14th – 30-3.75), and freshman Morgan Cope (15th – 30-2.00) also competed.

Ursinus hopes to make a move up the leaderboard when the action resumes on Sunday inside the Floy Lewis Bakes Center.
