Records Galore as Women's Track and Field Shines at Valentine Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. – The Ursinus College women's track and field team came back from the David Hemery Valentine Invitational with plenty of history in tow, establishing several new indoor school records on Boston University's 200-meter, banked track.

Senior Kristen Prijs' time of 59.49 broke the school record in the 400, eclipsing the clocking of 59.80 registered by Kristen King in 2009. Senior Krista Snyder finished the event in 1:03.77, a mere .02 seconds off her season standard.

Junior Erin Farrell ran a College-record 26.20 in the 200, edging the 26.42 registered by Amanda Laurito in 2012. Prijs recorded a 26.78, also a personal best.

Freshman Brittany Gasser won her heat in a time of 2:21.54, more than five seconds ahead of her previous low and just shy of the school record (2:21.26) set by Christa Johnson in 2009. Sophomore Jenna Kelly also finished first in her heat with a clocking of 2:27:36, a personal record by over five seconds.

Snyder was a few inches off a season best with a 16-3.75 in the long jump.

Farrell ran the 60-meter dash in 8.33, one hundredth of a second faster than her season best set last weekend at the Frank Colden Invitational.

Freshman Caroline Buckley was three-quarters of an inch off a personal best in the triple jump (32-10.25). Fellow rookie Riley Engel finished the mile in 5:37.14, and classmate Gabrielle Manto posted a time of 5:44.23; both were personal bests.

Prijs, Snyder, Kelly, and Gasser set a new program record and turned in the Centennial Conference's top time in the 4x400-meter relay, placing second in their heat with a mark of 4:04.48.

In Saturday's lone women's event, the distance medley relay team of Gasser, Prijs, Snyder, and Engel fell just short of a school record with a 12:58.34.
