Women's Track and Field second at Ursinus Open

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – In its final home meet before Centennial Conference Championships in two weeks, the Ursinus College women's track and field team closed the Floy Lewis Bakes Fieldhouse in style with a second place finish at the Ursinus Open.

In a field of 12 teams, the Bears finished with a team score of 89 points.

In the track events, senior Victoria Goodenough finished first with a time of 9.16 in the 60 meter hurdles. Sophomore Kristen Prijs finished second in the 400 dash with a score of 1:03.20. Senior Emily Lamb was third at 2:24.26 in the 800 run.

In the relays, the team of Goodenough, freshman Erin Farrell, freshman Chloe Johnson-Hyde and freshman Amber Stigerwalt was second in the 4x2 at 1:49.20, while the team of Goodenough, Lamb, Farrell and Prijs was second in the 4x400 at 4:22.59.

In the 5k, senior Chelsie Nemeth was sixth at 20:40.92, followed by sophomore Danielle Grimes in seventh at 21:12.40. Johnson-Hyde would be eighth in the 200 at 27.92.

The field events saw senior Amanda Birnbrauer, who was selected as the Centennial Conference Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday, finish second at 39-10.50. Senior Katie Williams was fifth at 32-10.50.

In the high jump, sophomore Kimberly Snow was third at 4-09.75. Sophomore Krista Snyder was third in the long jump at 15-07.75 and fifth in the triple at 32-09.50. Freshman Veronica Sanford was seventh at 14-05.75 in the long jump and sixth in the triple at 32-03.75.

Sophomore Elizabeth Cooley was third in the pole vault at 9-06.25.
