Women's Track and Field opens up season by hosting Bow-Tie Classic

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's track and field team started their season by hosting the Bow-Tie Classic and finished with 39 points in fifth place.

Junior Emily Lamb had two top three finishes, as she was second in the mile at 5:30.94 and was third in the 800 at 2:27.90.

Sophomore Elizabeth Cooley was third in the pole vault at 9-00.25, while senior Amanda Birnbrauer was fourth in the shot put at 38-00.75.

In the 800, freshman Samantha Close was sixth at 2:33.72.

In the 400, sophomore Kristin Prijs was eighth at 1:03.04 while Chelsea Nemeth was eighth in the 5k at 20:33.89.

In the relays, freshman Amber Steigerwalt, freshman Chloe Johnson-Hyde, freshman Gabrielle Simonetti and freshman Erin Farrell were fifth in the 4x2 relay at 1:51.85, while Prijus, junior Nicole La Ratta, Close and Lamb were fourth in the 4x8 at 10:45.06.
