Women's Track fourth after two day of Centennial

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's track and field team is fourth after day two of the 2011 Centennial Conference Championship hosted by Muhlenberg College. The Bears have a total of 35.5 points, 4.5 points behind third place Haverford.

The Bears picked up 27 of their 35.5 points in the high jump as the Bears went 1,2,3 in the placing along with a sixth place finish. Freshman Amy Galvin (Audubon, Pa./Methacton) won the event at 5-03.75, followed by freshman Anna Lopresti (Northfield, N.J./Mainland Regional) in second at 5-00.50 and freshman Annie Hudson (Rochester, N.Y./Emma Willard) in third at 5-00.50. Sopohomore Celina Sooksatan (Nutley, N.J./Nutley) was sixth at 4-10.50.

In the only other scoring final for the Bears, the team of senior Deb Yannessa (Haddonfield, N.J./Paul IV), junior Lauren Goldstein (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown), junior Stephanie Donatone (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) and senior Ali Nolan (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) took seventh in the 4x8 relay with a time of 10:30.78.

In Saturday's prelims, sophomore Amanda Laurito (Philadelphia, Pa.) nabbed the top seed in the 100 meter dash (12.44) and the 200 meter dash (25.90) while junior Kirsten King (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield Memorial) took the top seed in the 400 meter dash (57.72) and was third in the 200 at 26.09.

In the hurdle events, freshman Victoria Goodenough (Oxford, England) took the top seed in the 100 (15.03) and the 400 (1:06.19). Sophomore Carina Doyle (Holliston, Mass./Holliston) is seeded fifth in the 400 hurdles at 1:08.91.
