Women's Track and Field takes several top places at Cheyney meet

CHEYNEY, Pa. – While it was a non-scoring meet on Wednesday at the Cheyney Midweek Classic, the Ursinus College track and field teams turned in a high amount of top finishers at the local meet.

The women picked up a majority of their top placements in the sprint events as Amanda Laurito won the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.17, while Kirsten King won the 400 meter dash at 1:00.46. In the 100 dash, Caitlin Walsh was fifth at 14.39, Delicia Wharton was sixth at 14.88, Megan McIntosh was seventh with a  time of 15.20, followed by Kaley Miller-Schaeffer in eighth at 15.66.

Lauren Lammers was second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.52.

In the 400 dash, Carina Doyle was third at 1:02.69, followed by Ali Nolan in seventh at 1:07.94 and Jordan Kellogg in eighth at 1:09.17. In the 800 run, Lauren Goldstein was second at 2:33.18, followed by Katie Martin in fourth at 2:41.75.

In the field events, Katie Williams was first in the shot put with a throw of 34-05, with Amanda Birnbrauer finishing second at 34-02. Laura Drebrushenko was eighth with a throw of 27-03.25. Birnbrauer was second in the javelin throw at 72-09.

In the jumps, Celina Sooksatan was third in the high jump at 4-10.25, with Doyle picking up a fifth place finish in the long jump at 14-6. Sooksatan was sixth in the long jump at 14-04.50, with Jen Wolf going seventh at 14-03.
