Women's Track and Field starts outdoor slate at West Chester

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's track and field team started the outdoor portion of their schedule on Saturday, as they took part in the non-scoring West Chester Invitational.

The team had several standout performances in all aspects of the meet.

Starting in the field events, freshman Annie Hudson (Rochester, N.Y./Emma Willard) won the high jump with a mark of 5 feet, .50 inches, with freshman Amy Galvin (Audubon, Pa./Methacton) taking third at the same mark. Freshman Anna Lopresti (Northfield, N.J./Mainland Regional) and sophomore Celina Sooksatan (Nutley, N.J./Nutley) were both fourth at 4-10.50.

In the javelin throw, the Bears took second through sixth place, as sophomore Ticora Adams (Philadelphia, Pa./Philadelphia Montgomery Christian) was second at 98-10, followed by sophomore Natalie Massari (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) (97-05), junior Amy Schaefer (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) (97-03), junior Bianca Bartoli (Brookfield, Conn./Brookfield) (95-00) and junior Ryann Burke (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield) (90-08). Junior Alison Cragg (Southampton, Pa./William Tennett) took eighth at 84-06.

In the triple jump, sophomore Leah Shaw (Bordentown, N.J./Bordentown Regional) was sixth with a mark of 32-08.50 feet, while freshman Katie Williams (Burlington, N.J./Burlington Township) was seventh in the shot put at 33-04.50.

In the pole vault, junior Lauren Surman (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown Area) was fourth at 8-10.25.

On the track, junior Michelle Tetla (Pompton Lakes, N.J./Pompton Lakes) was first in the 3000 meter steeplechase at 13:53.3.

Sophomore Amanda Laurito (Philadelphia, Pa.) was third in the 200 meter dash at 26.14, while taking fourth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.74.

Senior Alison Nolan (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) was third in the 5k with a time of 19:11.13.

In the hurdle events, freshman Victoria Goodenough (Oxford, England/McDonough School) was second in the 100 meter hurdles at 15.44, while sophomore Carina Doyle (Holliston, Mass./Holliston) was third in the 400 hurdles (1:10.83) with sophomore Caitlin Callahan (Edgewater Park, N.J./Burlington City) taking seventh in the event at 1:15.42, and Lopresti eighth at 1:17.32.

In the 4x1 meter relay, the team of junior Kirsten King (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield Memorial), senior Lauren Lammers (Haddon Heights, N.J./Bishop Eustace), Goodenough and Lammers was fourth at 52.10, while the team of Callahan, junior Caitlin Walsh (Norton, Mass./Coyle-Cassidy), sophomore Delicia Warton (Yonkers, N.Y./Rye Country Day) and freshman Amanda Birnbrauer (Morrisville, Pa./Conwell-Egan Catholic) was sixth at 57.52.
