Women's Track wins Colden Invitational

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – With just three weeks remaining before the Centennial Conference Championships, the Ursinus College women's track and field team won the Frank Colden Invitational with a total score of 131.50 points.

Sophomore Amanda Laurito (Philadelphia, Pa./PA Home Schoolers) had a very strong meet as her time in the 55 dash (7.42) not only won her the event but set a new school record.  Three minutes after setting that record, she joined up with freshman Victoria Goodenough (Oxford, England/McDonough School), junior Kristen King (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield Memorial) and senior Lauren Lammers (Haddon Heights, N.J./Bishop Eustace) to set a school record in the 4x2 relay with a winning time of 1:47.56. Laurito won the 200 dash with another school record of 26.88.

King won the 400 dash with a time of 1:01.27 and picked up a third place finish in the 200 at 27.33. Goodenough finished eighth in the 200 at 27.74.

Sophomore Carina Doyle (Holliston, Mass./Holliston) finished fourth in the 400 dash at 1:03.89.

In the 800, senior Alison Nolan (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) was fourth at 2:31.04, with freshman Rachel Albershardt (Kensington, Md./Walter Johnson) in seventh at 2:36.06 and freshman Anna Lopresti (Northfield, N.J./Mainland Regional) in eighth at 2:36.76.

Nolan won the mile run at 5:22.66, with Albershardt finishing second at 5:34.18.

In the 55 hurdles, freshman Amy Galvin (Audubon, Pa./Methacton) was sixth at 9.53. The team of Nolan, senior Deb Yannessa (Haddonfield, N.J./Paul IV High School), junior Lauren Goldstein (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) and Albershardt were second in the 4x8 at 10:40.06.

In the pole vault, junior Lauren Surman (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown) was second clearing a height of 9-05.75 feet, with junior Amy Schaefer (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) in third at 8-11.75 and freshman Elisa Tyler(Succasunna, N.J./Roxbury) tied for sixth at 7-11.50 feet.

The high jump saw Galvin finish third at 5-01.75 feet, with sophomore Celina Sooksatan (Nutley, N.J./Nutley) in fourth at 5-01.75 and freshman Annie Hudson (Rochester, N.Y./Emma Willard School) in fifth at 4-11.75 feet.

In the long jump, Goodenough was sixth at 14-06.50 feet and Sooksatan in seventh at 14-04 feet.  Sophomore Leah Shaw (Bordentown, N.J./Bordentown Regional) was third in the triple at 32-7.
