Women's Track starts 2011 at Kutztown Invitational

KUTZTOWN, Pa. - The Ursinus College women's track and field team wrapped up its early return from winter break with the Kutztown Invitational on Friday. A select number of athletes returned to campus early to get a head start on training for the Indoor and Outdoor track seasons, and the results certainly showed.

The women were backed by a stellar performance by freshman Victoria Goodenough (Oxford, England/McDonough School).

Goodenough broke the school record in the 55 hurdles, running an 8.68 in the preliminary round. Goodenough advanced to the finals, and took second place with an 8.75, and also took fourth place in the 200, running a 27.76.

Fellow freshman Amanda Laurito (Philadelphia, Pa./PA Home Schoolers) also turned in a strong performance, taking fourth in the 55 with a 7.59 and sixth in the 200 with a 28.29.

Freshman Rachel Albershardt also had a strong showing in the distance events, taking second place in the 3000 with a time of 11:24.65, and sixth in the 800, running a 2:35.21. Sophomore Carina Doyle (Holliston, MA/Holliston) added another second place finish for the women in the 500, running a 1:24.
