Women's Track shines at Muhlenberg

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Ursinus College track and field teams had a very strong showing on Saturday afternoon at the non-scoring Muhlenberg College Invitational.

Freshman Leah Shaw (Bordentown, N.J./Bordentown Regional) was one of two top finishers, as she captured the triple jump at ten meters even. Freshman Olivia Hovick (Glen Mills, Pa./West Chester Bayard-Rustin) was second with a mark of ten meters as well.

Sophomore Bianca Bartoli (Brookfield, Conn./Brookfield) was first in the javelin at 34.34 meters, followed by freshman Natalie Massari (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) in third place at 31.32  meters.

Hovick took second in the long jump at 4.80 meters, while Shaw was fourth at 4.30 meters.

In the pole vault, sophomore Amy Schaefer (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) was third at 2.75 meters, followed by sophomore Lauren Surman (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown Area) in sixth place at 2.59 meters. Schaefer was seventh in the javelin at 29.36 meters, followed by sophomore Josie Maressa (Waterford, N.J./Hammonton) in eighth place at 29.36 meters.

On the track, sophomore Chelsie Schadt (Youngsville, N.Y./Sullivan West) was third in the 5k with a time of 21:22.18, with junior Deb Yanessa (Haddonfield, N.J./Paul IV) in fifth place in the 800 meter run with a mark of 2:30.50. Yanessa was also third in the 1500 meter dash with a time of 5:05.32.

Sophomore Michelle Tetla (Pompton Lakes, N.J./Pompton Lakes) earned a fourth place finish in the steeplechase with a time of 13:41.05.

In the hurdle events, freshman Caitlin Callahan (Edgewater Park, N.J./Burlington City) was third in the 400 hurdles at 1:14.63, while finishing fourth in the high hurdles at 18.69. In the 400 hurdles, freshman Carina Doyle (Holliston, Mass./Holliston) was fourth with a mark of 1:16.44.

In the 200 meter dash, freshman Amanda Laurito (Philadelphia, Pa./PA Home Schoolers) was fifth with a mark of 27.71, with junior Lauren Lammers (Haddon Heights, N.J./Bishop Eustace) finishing seventh at 28.32.

Lammers was fourth in the 100 dash at 13.33, while sophomore Caitlin Walsh (Norton, Mass./Coyle-Cassidy) was seventh at 13.98, and Doyle was eighth at 14.06.

Sophomore Lauren Goldstein (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) was third in the 400 meter dash at 1:03.00.
