Women's Tennis Garners ITA Academic Awards

TEMPE, Ariz. – The Ursinus College women's tennis team was named an All-Academic Team by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), while five of its members pulled in Scholar-Athlete honors from the organization.

The Bears were recognized as a team for the third straight season. The ITA gives All-Academic Team awards to programs with a GPA of 3.20 or higher; the Bears recorded a 3.55 team GPA during the 2021-22 academic year.

Recent graduate Maddie Russell, rising senior Ava Compagnoni, rising junior Avery Samer, plus rising sophomores Allie Armour and Shannon Stewart were all named ITA Scholar-Athletes, which require at least a 3.50 GPA.

For Compagnoni and Russell, it was the third time they were honored in their careers while Samer was recognized for the second-straight year. Armour and Stewart garner the award for the first time in their careers. Compagnoni, Russell, and Samer were all on the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll for the spring semester.
