BALTIMORE, Md. - The Ursinus Bears women's tennis team dropped a 9-0 match to No. 24 Johns Hopkins on Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference action.

With the loss, the Bears fell to 9-5 overall and 3-2 overall in Centennial Conference action after facing their second-straight nationally ranked team. Meanwhile, the Blue Jays improved to 7-4 overall and kept their perfect conference record intact at 6-0.

Johns Hopkins won all three doubles points to grab an early 3-0 lead in the match. At the first doubles spot, the duo of first-year Allie Armour and senior Maddie Russell fell 8-0 to Anjali Devireddy and Aya Igaki-Meader. Johns Hopkins' Anya Gunewardena and Celina Liu followed by defeating Claire Burke and first-year Shannon Stewart 8-2 at the No. 3 doubles while sophomores Caitlin Vinsonhaler and Avery Samer fell 8-4 at the No. 2 position to Christina Huynh and Jessica Liang.

In singles, Liang opened by taking down Burke 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and Emily Javedan locked up the match for the Blue Jays with a 6-1, 6-2 triumph over Russell at the No. 1 spot. Vinsonhaler was bested by Sophie Saland 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles while Zoe Hsleh downed Stewart 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 6 position. Catharina Ausfahl earned a 6-0, 6-2 win over junior Ava Compagnoni at No. 5 singles and Swati Yarlagadda downed Samer 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4 singles to end the match.

Ursinus returns to action on Tuesday, April 19th as they will travel to face No. 36 Haverford at 4:00 p.m. in Centennial Conference action.
