LANCASTER, Pa. – Junior partners Cara Freedman and Maddie Russell represented the Ursinus College women's tennis team on the All-Centennial Conference roster, released Tuesday by the league office.
Freedman and Russell were named to the second team for the second time in their careers, adding to the All-CC recognition they received as rookies.
The junior duo are the first players in program history to earn multiple all-conference doubles nods; BreAnna Bashaw and Ariel Danizger, who were named to the second team in 2016, are the only other pairing to be honored on the All-CC roster.
Freedman and Russell finished 3-4 in conference-only play in their first season at No. 1 doubles. They posted victories over Franklin & Marshall, Gettysburg, and McDaniel, and two of their losses – to Muhlenberg and Dickinson – came in tiebreakers.
The all-conference laurel is the third for Russell, who was also a second-team singles honoree in 2019.
Additionally, junior Jessica Leach was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team. Leach was unbeaten this spring, going 4-0 in singles (3-0 at No. 6) and winning her lone doubles appearance alongside Maddie Sorebo.
