Women's Tennis Swept at Swarthmore

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's tennis team conceded a 9-0 result at nationally ranked Swarthmore in Centennial Conference action Wednesday.

Ursinus (7-3, 0-2) was relatively competitive in doubles, taking 12 combined games off the Garnet (3-2, 1-0) – ranked 40th in Division III and 16th in the Atlantic South.

Seniors Christine Palazzolo and Robin Alsher lost 8-5 to Rachel Hechinger and Shivani Gupta at third doubles, while junior Ariel Danziger and freshman Caitlyn Sorelle fell 8-4 to Ashley Gao and Shirline Wee at number two. Alli Wong and Vivien Fernandez polished off the sweep with an 8-3 triumph opposite Bears juniors Aileen Bevard and Ashley Nguyen.

Alsher claimed four games at number five singles, but no other Bear was able to take more than three.

The women's tennis team gets right back at it at Lebanon Valley on Thursday before resuming conference play Saturday against Gettysburg.
