Women's Tennis Rolls Past Monarchs

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Ursinus College women's tennis team got contributions up and down the lineup in an 8-1 victory over King's College on Thursday, with all eight Bears playing and winning a match in the team's third straight victory.

Sophomores Ashley Nguyen and Aileen Bevard continued their strong spring with another victory at first doubles, this one an 8-4 decision. Senior BreAnna Bashaw and junior Ariel Danziger corralled an 8-3 triumph at second doubles, and junior Christine Palazzolo and senior Stephanie-Jane Seabra teamed up for an 8-4 verdict on the number three court.

Madeline Griffin topped Nguyen 6-1, 6-2, to give King's (2-5) its lone point, but Ursinus (3-1) won the other five courts with relative ease.

Bevard captured a 6-0, 6-1 victory at third singles, a score matched by junior Robin Alsher out of the sixth flight. Bashaw was a 6-1, 6-1 winner at number two, and sophomore Christie Pawl claimed her second victory in as many days with a 6-3, 6-0 result at fifth singles. Palazzolo took down a 6-4, 6-3 victory at the number four flight to round out the match.

The women's tennis team will look for a fourth straight win on Thursday morning against Lake Forest.
