Women's Tennis Tames Tigers

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Ursinus College women's tennis team made it two wins in a row with an 8-1 defeat of Wittenberg on Tuesday night in Florida.

Sophomore Christie Pawl and junior Robin Alsher coasted to an 8-1 victory at third doubles, while sophomores Ashley Nguyen and Aileen Bevard prevailed, 8-3, at number one. Senior BreAnna Bashaw and sophomore Ariel Danziger rounded out a sweep of doubles play with an 8-4 triumph in the second flight.

Bashaw (second) and Pawl (sixth) were thoroughly dominant in singles play, each constructing 6-0, 6-0 whitewashings. Bevard captured a 6-1, 6-4 victory at number three, and Danziger notched a 6-4, 6-0 decision at fourth singles.

Senior Stephanie-Jane Seabra won 6-3, 6-1 in the fifth flight to round out the final tally for Ursinus (2-1).

Carli Milano knocked off sophomore Ashley Nguyen by a 6-4, 6-1 decision at number one singles to give Wittenberg (2-7) its lone point.

The Bears hit the courts again Wednesday afternoon with a match against King's (Pa.)
