Lear Wins Twice for Women's Swimming

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Sophie Lear registered a pair of freestyle victories, but it was otherwise all Gettysburg as the Ursinus College women's swimming team suffered a 158-77 Centennial Conference defeat on Saturday.

Lear won both the 100 and 200 free against the Bullets, the only two victories on the day for the 20th-ranked Bears (3-2, 2-2). She completed the 200 in 1:58.26, a full three seconds clear of the Bullets' runner-up, and posted the second-best time in the CC to claim the 100 (53.98).

Lear was also involved in two second-place relays, teaming with Katherine Champagne, Haley Sturla, and Liv Rachael in the 400 medley relay (4:06.17) and with Champagne, Rachael and Schultz in the 200 free relay (1:43.04).

Katie Schultz turned in runner-up finishes in both the 500 free (5:24.41) and 1000 free (10:58.73). She already ranks inside the top-three in the conference in both events this season. Schultz was also third in the 200 fly (2:19.67)

Champagne took second place in the 100 back, landing four-tenths of a second back of the victor from Gettysburg with a mark of 1:00.71. She also finished third in the 200 back (2:15.61).

Sturla was third in both the 100 breast (1:09.46) and 200 breast (2:33.57), while Rachael was third in the 100 fly (1:02.05) and Katelyn Moore matched that in the 200 IM (2:19.24).
