CollegeSwimming Tabs May CC Swimmer of the Week

CollegeSwimming Release

After contributing to three first-place relays and adding an individual win for good measure, Ursinus College freshman Sophie May was named the Centennial Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week by CollegeSwimming.

May was at the center of a pair of non-conference victories for the Bears, who improved to 8-0 by dominating Cabrini and Albright on back-to-back days.

May swam the last leg of the 200 medley relay in Friday's home meet with Cabrini, joining sophomore Margrethe Leis, senior Sydney Gundersen, and junior Clara Baker for a time of 1:53.35. She then edged out fellow rookie Rebecca Warren to take top prize in the 50 free (25.49) and posted a mark of 5:30.89 in the 500 free.

On Saturday, May handled the first leg of both the 400 medley relay (4:11.16) and the 400 free relay (3:46.04).

May is enjoying a standout collegiate debut. She ranks second in the Centennial Conference in the 50 free (24.54), 200 free (1:54.87), and 200 back (2:08.22) as well as third in the 100 free (53.26) and the 50 back (28.20).

Ursinus is No. 18 in the latest CollegeSwimming dual rankings.
