Lyons Selected CC Women's Swimmer of the Week

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus College freshman Peyten Lyons was selected as the Centennial Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week.

Lyons continued her impressive rookie campaign as the Bears (11-0, 7-0) clinched their third straight Centennial Conference dual-meet crown and undefeated regular season with league victories over Franklin & Marshall and Bryn Mawr.

Lyons picked up three victories in Friday's 139-66 rout of the Diplomats, who came in with a perfect league record. She captured individual wins in the 200 free (1:57.43) and 100 back (59.03), and also swam the leadoff leg of the victorious 200 medley relay team, which also included sophomore Olivia Tierney, freshman Clara Baker, and senior Corinne Capodanno.

Lyons joined Tierney, junior Marisa Ferrari, and sophomore Reney Hess to place second in the 200 medley relay on Saturday versus Bryn Mawr. She then teamed with sophomores Margaret Leitz and Sydney Gundersen and Capodanno to shatter a pool record in the 800 free relay; their clocking of 7:56.67 was nearly 25 full seconds better than the previous standard.

The Bears' freshman phenom currently holds the top 100 back time in Centennial Conference history, a national B-cut mark of 56.60. She ranks fifth in the 200 back (2:10.40) and the 200 free (1:57.43).

Ursinus, ranked No. 20 in Division III, tunes up for the CC championships with the Franklin & Marshall Pre-Tournament Invitational on Saturday, February 13.
