Women's Swimming third after day one of Centennial Championships

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's swimming team finished day one of the 2012 Centennial Conference Championships with a total of 172 points in third place, just 1.5 points behind second place Gettysburg.

The Bears started the night by tying for first in the opening 200 yard freestyle relay as Malena Lair Ferrari, Anne Ludwig, Sarah Kolosky and Katie Yeity finished with a time of 1:39.06. Yeity swam the final leg in 23.60 seconds to forge the tie with F&M.

In the 500 free, Bryn O'Neill was seventh overall with a time of 5:17.09, with Chelsea Kozior finishing ninth at 5:16.43 and Molly Serfass taking 13th at 5:20.22.

In the 200 IM, Lair Ferrari was second overall at 2:09.99.

In the 50 free, Yeity was second overall with a time of 24.32, with Amanda Lucock finishing ninth at 25.10, Kolosky in 13th at 25.61 and Ludwig at 25.81.

In the 400 medley relay, the team of Lair Ferrari, Eva Russell, Danielle Yentz and Yeity finishing third overall at 4:03.70. The team of Ludwig, Katy Martin, Rebecca Schroll and Kolosky finished 11th with a time of 4:10.48.

The three-day championship resumes Saturday morning with prelims.



FRIDAY AM

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Ursinus College will be well represented in Friday nights Centennial Conference finals after the early morning preliminaries at Gettysburg College.

Here's a quick recap:

Women:

Both sophomore Bryn O'Neill and Molly Serfass will compete in the 500 free finals. O'Neill will be in the A final with a time of 5:19.43, which was seventh best overall. Serfass is in the B finals with a time of 5:19.82.

Sophomore Malena Lair Ferrari took third in the 200 IM, with a time of 2:11.87 and will race in the A finals.

In the 50 free, Ursinus will have three people involved as freshman Katie Yeity finished her prelim with a time of 24.80, which tied for second and put her in the A finals. Freshman Anne Ludwig and Amanda Lucock both advanced to the B finals with times of 25.19 and 25.55 respectively.
