Women's Swimming defeats Bryn Mawr

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's swimming team hosted the Bryn Mawr College Owls on Saturday in a Centennial Conference matchup. The Bears came out with the win 113-89.

The team of sophomore Malena Lair Ferrari (Bethesda, Md./The German School), sophomore Eva Russell (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot), senior Kelly Reynolds (Newark, Del./Sanford School), and freshman Katie Yeity (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg) placed second in the 400 medley relay at 4:20.77 to start the meet.

Sophomore Bryn O'Neill (Lower Gwynedd, Pa./Germantown Academy) took top honors by winning the 1000 freestyle with a time of 11:12.87. 

Sophomore Molly Serfass (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock HS) placed second with a time of 11:42.73.

Freshman Anne Ludwig (Southborough, Mass./Algonquin Regional) took first in the 200 freestyle at 2:04.15, with senior Danielle Yentz (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) taking second with a time of 2:08.78.

Lair Ferrari took first in the 50 freestyle at 25.67, with Yeity finishing in a tape measure second at 25.81.

Russell won the 400 IM with a time of 5:01.41.  Sophomore Kimberly Bullock (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga HS) took second at 5:13.06.

Reynolds took second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:08.44.

Freshman Chelsea Kozior (Holland, Pa./Council Rock HS South) won the 100 freestyle at 56.89.  Freshman Rebecca Schroll (Moorestown, N.J./Moorsetown HS) took second with a time of 58.78.
O'Neill took second in the 100 backstroke at 1:06.38.

Junior Kaylani Wertman (Allentown, Pa./William Allen HS) took second in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:48.78.

Sophomore Katy Martin (Mt. Pleasant, S.C./Bishop England HS) cemented the Bears victory with her win in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:15.74.

The Bears swam exhibition for the final relay event.

Ursinus heads to the Centennial Conference Championships at Gettysburg College starting February 17.
