Women's Swimming has strong showing at Swarthmore Invitational

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's swimming team had a strong showing at the two-day, three-session Swarthmore Invitational this past weekend, finishing in second place with a total team score of 611 points.

Among the ten teams, the Bears had more than their share of top eight finishes.

The team of Malena Lair Ferrari, Lianna Foster-Bey, Anne Ludwig and Chelsea Kozior actually won the first event of the invitational, the 200-yard free relay with a time of 1:41.54.

In the 200 IM, Lair Ferrari won the event with a time of 2:11.36, and won the 100 back with a time of 58.59. Her best performance came in the 200 back, where she set a school record and set a NCAA provisional time at 2:04.72.

In the 500 free, Kozior took fourth with a time of 5:24.11 and Molly Serfass was fifth with a time of 5:27.03. Ludwig finished eighth in the 50 free a time of 25.90

The team of Lair Ferrari, Eva Russell, Danielle Yentz and Kozior finished fourth in the 400 medley relay with a time of 4:11.53. In the 200 medley relay, the team of Ludwig, Russell, Yentz and Foster-Bey was fifth with a time of 1:56.61. In the 800 free relay, the team of Lair Ferrari, Kozior, Serfass and Russell was third at 8:11.60.

Yentz took seventh in the 100 fly with a time of 1:02.86, while Russell had an eighth place finish in the 400 IM at 5:00.49.

In the 200 free, Kozior was second with a time of 2:01.51, while Serfass was sixth at 2:04.03. In the 100 breast, Katy Martin was eighth at 1:15.06.

In the 100 back, Ludwig was fourth at 1:02.85, while Yentz took eighth in the 200 back at 2:18.55. Yentz later picked up a seventh place finish in the 200 fly at 2:25.01.

In the 100 free, Ludwig was fifth at 56.21, while Kozior was seventh at 56.42. In the 200 breast, Russell was third at 2:35.16. Rebecca Schroll was sixth in the 200 fly at 2:23.05.

In the 400 free relay, the team of Lair Ferrari, Ludwig, Foster-Bey and Kozior were second with a time of 3:41.01.

Finally, Serfass was third in the 1650 free at 18:43, Margo Randelman was fifth at 18:59.56, with Kaylani Wertman was seventh at 19:29.12.
